calculating year on year percentage price increases

    Hi all,

Just wondering if you can help me?
I need to work out as part of a formula how to add 2% onto a price, then another 2% to the new price over a number of years, say 7 years?
So all that gets shown is the final price at 7th year?

    I hope this makes sense
    Donna

That is the exponentiation operator, which means raise to the power, so ^2 means squared, ^3 means cubed, ^7 means raised to the power 7 (or multiply by itself seven times). You can also use the POWER function.

    Hope this helps.

excellent Pete, you learn something new every day :-)

This multiplier, can it be referenced by a cell with another formula in, or do I have to manually put in the number?

As Pete said this is the exponentiation operator and 100*(1+0.02)^7 = 100*(1+0.02)*(1+0.02)*(1+0.02)*(1+0.02)*(1+0.02)*(1+0.02)*(1+0.02)!
You can use it in another formula or get the number from another cell!
