EDIT: REQUIRED DELETING THE FUNCTION. SAVING THE WORKBOOK. CLOSING ALL EXCEL. REOPENING, REWRITING IT IN THE WORKBOOK, RESAVING AND BAM........
I necro posted a solved thread but doubt it will get much views so am posting a new one.
The below worked perfectly until I switched the source of the pivot refresh button macro I had.
Then, on the worksheet, type: =PTSource(A3)
Replace the A3 with a reference to a pivot table cell on your worksheet.
Note: this formula won't work for pivot tables created from multiple
consolidation ranges.
that was taken from another user here.
now I get a blank cell with a green error arrow on the top left. prior it would give me an R1C1 value with a 5 digit row # and "C26" which didn't change regardless of what cell I selected. all I want is a displayed value of what my current range is for an existing pivot table. if there is a better way not involving a complicated VBA that's great. but I figure this should be easy enough, I'm just stuck.
