    Ignore the blanks

    =COUNTIF(Q3:Q63,"Meets Requirement")/COUNTA(Q3:Q63)

I am using the formula above but now in some columns I have blank fields and some fields with 0 and some with "None requirement competence" I would like the formula to ignore all of those fields

    Please help!

    Re: Ignore the blanks

Can you offer some specific examples and explain the actual results you're looking for.

As written the formula is of course counting all the "Meets Requirement" values and divides that number by the count of all NON Zero items.

If you want to ignore all but the "Meets requirement" and count them it's not immediately obvious why you need to divide at all.

    Re: Ignore the blanks

I am looking at a training sheet so I've got names on left and all the different training along the top

some training is mandatory for all so those columns are easy - the cells are either "meets requirement" or "doesn't meet requirement" but some other training is not mandatory for all and so in those columns I have the blank fields - some 0 fields and "none required competence"

I don't populate these fields they are sent to me so I don't have control over what is written in those fields.

I want to find out the compliance levels - so I used the formula to work that out - however, the formula doesn't work on the columns with the extra fields

I want the formula to check all the cells and ignore the ones that aren't "Meets the requirement" and "doesn't meet the requirement"

Does that make send - please let me know if it doesn't and i'll try explaining again.

    Re: Ignore the blanks

    Hi,

Please upload the workbook with specific examples. Manually add the results you expect to see and explain which cells are results and which are data.

Use the Go Advanced button at the foot of the post area and then look underneath for the 'Manage Attachments option.
