    Arranging Data

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help with me with a formula.

What I am trying to achieve is to list all the names that has a number beside it from highest to lowest.

My data: first column(A) has a list of names, second column (B) has a list of numbers. (some names may not have a number beside it)

    Tim 5
    Bob
    Adrian 1
    Helen
    Kieran 2
    Chloe
    Maggie 3
    Glenn
    Rick 1
    George

Output: Columns C and D is where the output would be.

    Tim 5
    Maggie 3
    Kieran 2
    Adrian 1
    Rick 1

    Appreciate any help given

    Thanks

Use this macro to filter the data and then run the sort wizard on the Data tab of the ribbon

    Re: Arranging Data

I tried the macro but it replaces the data. I think the results should be in columns C and D.

I have formulas in place to accomplish the issue.

I was wondering how you attach information to the bottom of replies. Can you advise me?

    Re: Arranging Data

    Here is a formula solution
Enter array formula in C2 and copy across to D2 and then down
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

    ***Array formula
...confirmed by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to activate the array, not just ENTER.
You will know the array is active when you see curly braces { } appear around your formula.
If you do not CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER you will get an error or a clearly incorrect answer.

    v A B C D
1 Name Unique Name list Values
    2 Tim 5 Tim 5
    3 Bob Adrian 1
    4 Adrian 1 Kieran 2
    5 Helen Maggie 3
    6 Kieran 2 Rick 1
    7 Chloe
    8 Maggie 3
    9 Glenn
    10 Rick 1
    11 George

    Re: Arranging Data

Another way. In E2 and filled down.
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Then in D2 this array formula.
If you aren’t familiar with array-entered formulas array enter means the formula must be committed from edit mode by simultaneously pressing and holding down Ctrl and Shift while hitting Enter.
    Formula: copy to clipboard
