I need a formula to calculate a total dollar amount from the most recent date in a list to the nearest date that is 12 months earlier so that I have a moving total of the previous 12 month period.

Me transmitte sursum Caledoni
Like this ...
=SUMIFS(C:C,A:A,"<="&I1,A:A,">="&EDATE(I1,-12))
Thanks for the quick reply, but I'm having difficulty understanding your formula. I have the dates in column A and the dollar amounts in column D. There are 3 variables in your formula - A, C, and I so how would I apply that formula in my situation?
=SUMIFS(D:D,A:A,"<="&I1,A:A,">="&EDATE(I1,-12))
Date_criteria in I1
Thank you! Now I just have to try to understand what your formula actually does to make it work.
(For a start, I'm familiar with "SUMIF" but not "SUMIFS")
