I know that conditional formatting can highlight or change the font of an entire row based on 1 cell's value, but can conditional formatting or a specific formula change the font of part of a row, IE: specific cells based on a single cell's value rather than the entire row? If so, how is it done?
For example if cell AB4 is negative (less than 0) than i want the font in cells T4:AB4 to be a specific color. Everything else in the row remains in the regular black font.

you can apply conditional formats on limited range. You could try to select T4:AB4 and go to conditional formatting to set the new rule.

1. highlight the range you want to apply the conditional formatting to
2. on the home tab, styles, select CF
3. select new rule, select use formula
4. enter =the-rule-formula-that-you-need

I've included a workbook as an example. Can someone explain the formula i would use in conditional formatting? Also the range will extend indefinitely as new data is inserted so the formula will need to continue on as well.
The highlighted area in red are the cells in question.
with your example in CF: =$I3<0 and set your favorite colour
(if you've problem with CF read post #3)
I'm not understanding what format i am supposed to use in CF. I want cells B:I to highlight in red font when the value in cell I is negative. Can someone walk me through on how to do this?

I did read post 3; about 5 times. When i enter the formula you provided it only changed the font in Cell I3. Hence why i asked a few times.
