Question Splitting out ; separated values in a single cell into multiple cells

I have an export of data from Salesforce. I need to import it into FullContact, preserving most of the data but getting it into an import-ready format that FullContact will support.

Specifically, I have multi picklist values from Salesforce that are separated in a single cell by a semicolon. So for example, it's a list of contacts in which one Salesforce field allows me to assign tags to a contact record. Example:

    First,Last,Middle,Tags,DOB
    John,Doe,A,Tag1;Tag2;Tag3,1/1/1900

The import format requires each tag be in a separate column named Group Membership.

There are thousands of records; I can't realistically go through them one-by-one and separate them out manually.

Is there any way I can do this with formulas or VBA code?

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

It seems like the Text to columns command should do this just fine: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...A-7A3E9C363ED7

That's the coolest thing ever. Holy crap the number hours I'd have saved in years past.

Thanks so much; that did precisely what I needed.

I am glad that you found it helpful, though, [friendly taunt] I might suggest you get out this weekend. Take in a play or a concert or the symphony or some hiking or fishing or a walk on the beach or something. Text to columns is pretty neat, but I have a hard time seeing it as "the coolest thing ever". [/friendly taunt]
