I need a string that will be a name and email address. Please see sample file. The text string ends with a >, (bracket, comma, space). Thanks.

    Re: Concatenate

    Try this:

    =""""&A3&""""&" <"&C3&">,"

    Re: Concatenate

    another option:
    =CHAR(34)&A3&CHAR(34)&CHAR(32)&CHAR(60)&C3&CHAR(62)&CHAR(44)
    or with CONCATENATE function:
    =CONCATENATE(CHAR(34),A3,CHAR(34),CHAR(32),CHAR(60),C3,CHAR(62),CHAR(44))

    Re: Concatenate

I've marked the thread as solved for you using the forum tools drop-down at the top of the thread. The four quotation marks are necessary for Excel to understand that you want to include quotation marks within the first text you wish to concatenate, because every piece of concatenated text needs quotation marks round it. Try the formula without them and you'll see why they are there.
