Auto Addition to a Value Entered into a Cell

There is a one-column table. A user would type a four-digit number into a cell. The cell would automatically convert it to a stored format with that number.

For example: Cell A2 is blank
I type 45 and press enter.
Excel automatically converts the cell to read RM17-0045.

If another user types 102 into cell A3
Excel automatically converts the cell to read RM17-0102.

This would be for all entries in column A.

Could anyone show me how to do this? I want to learn.
    Thanks!

You cannot eat a cake and heve a cake in the same time and the same cake (with formula) but you can try look for VBA on this forum: Excel Programming / VBA / Macros
Custom formatting will give you RM17-0045 but also RM17-00102 not RM17-0102. If RM17-0102 for 102, 45 will be RM17-045

Not sure I understand, but I Custom formatted cell A2 as "RM17-"0000

Then typed 47 into cell A3. (Other numbers following in column A.)

    The formatting automatically followed.

    A
    1
    Test
    2
    RM17-0207
    3
    RM17-0047
    4
    RM17-0102
    5
    RM17-0012
    6
    RM17-2222
    7

You can go to "office button" > "Excel option"
    >Click on "Proofing"
    >Click on "Auto Correct option"
    >In Auto Correct Tab > in replace field type "45" & in with field type "RM17-0045" > Click on "Add" > Click "ok" > Click "ok"
    Same process for other numbers.
