Use 2 separate rows to populate data in a separate table....

    Hi all,

I'm a little stuck with something I'm trying to create and wondered if somebody can provide some pointers.

I have rows of data (in 2 separate tabs), and I then have a separate table which I'm trying to populate.

In my separate table, I want to lookup the column header, see if it matches data in a single row in a separate tab, and if it does, return a value from another tab which was in the same cell.

I've tried using LookUps, Index, Match etc but can't seem to work it right (I'm a beginner)

I've attached a file which shows a stripped down version of what I'm looking to do. For example, in "the table - cell B2", I want to see if B1 matches anything in "Rows 1 - row 2", and if it does bring across the value in "Rows 2" in which the cells match. If it doesnt match, then leave blank.

If anybody can point me in the right direction, that would be very helpful

    Sally

    Welcome to the forum!

It woudld help if you could add and explain some expected outcomes to your sample workbook.

This seems to work for the layout shown in the file, that is when the names in 'The Table', 'Rows 1' and 'Rows 2' are in the same order:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
