Excel 2010 Data Spread Sheet Help

I am creating a spreadsheet of different parts from a manufacturer that have part numbers, descriptions, and price of the part. Most of the parts have similar characteristics and just change by a letter or number at a time. For example, voltage or amperage values. I want to know if there is a way to link a price to a letter of a part number that will add up to the rest of the portions of the part number. For example, if the part number is G71, the G =$3000, the 7=$700, and the 1=$100. Then the total price for that part sums up to $3800 by only typing in G71. Then the next part number is G72 and 2=$200 so the price of that part is $3900. Is there a way to link prices to particular variables? Then add up the values of the variables?

    This is Excel 2010.

Welcome to the forum! Please take a moment to re-read forum rule #1 and then amend your thread title to something that better explains your problem. Changing your thread title is not optional, which means you must change it. Thanks!

    • Use concise, accurate thread titles.
    • Your post title should describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.
    • Use terms appropriate to a Google search - poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice tell us nothing.
    • Responding to a request to change your thread title by doing so is mandatory.

To change a title go to your first post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title.

No help to be offered, please, until the OP complies with this request.
