    Find/Move Dates in Text String

I have a text string. It has dates such as
    "2001-2004"
    or "2002-2010"

Is there any way I can use a formula to remove the dates only? Given that they are variable, I am having a hard time making a formula.

I want to rearrange the date location in a text string.

Re: Find/Move Dates in Text String

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

I tried the above suggested formulas and they either selected from the wrong spot, or selected the wrong text. Given that the year ranges change within the text, would a character count help for designing a function? Or exact examples?

Also, once I have the year range separated out, would there be a way to delete it within the source data, but dragging a formula?
Then I assume I could add it back it where I need with conc. function.

    Thanks again

savent79 it sounds like you need to upload an Excel sample file with a data mix representative of what you are working with ... (please no pics or screenshots. It saves having to retype data.)

If you are not familiar with how to do this:

To attach a file to your post,
    • be sure to desensitize the data
    • click “Go Advanced” (next to Post Quick Reply – bottom right),
    • scroll down until you see “Manage Attachments”, click that,
    • click “Browse”.
    • select your file(s)
    • click “Upload”
    • click “Close window”
    • click “Submit Reply”

The file name will appear at the bottom of your reply.
