    Rental Ledger Formula

    Hi,
I wish to create a simple spread sheet with a formula that calculates the rent paid to how many weeks the rent is paid up to for example these are the headings I will be using I just need a formula to go with them if posibble

for example the weekly rent due amount is $370 but they pay $750 i need the formula to automatically update the date paid from & date paid to by 2 weeks as well as the in hand vale of $10 being a novice in excel is there any wy you can help me set this up please.

    Thank you

    Re: Rental Ledger Formula

Welcome to the forum? Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook showing a mock-up of what you want to achieve?

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired solution is also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

    Hi samirwin-87,

I tried opening the workbook that you've attached but it looks like it was corrupted (please see screenshot below). It would be helpful if you could please attached another file (e.g. .xlsx). Thank you!

    Excel cannot open the file.png

I would ad a "helper" column to calculate the daily rate of rental then use that to calculate the Date Paid T and Weeks In Advance columns. I have attached an example.

    Good luck.

If you attach a sample of your workbook it will be easier to find a solution. Remember to remove/replace sensitive data before uploading the file. Look here if you need help with attachments:

This is a known issue: find the file in your downloads folder and remove the second (.xlsx) suffix, then the file will open as normal.
