TIP: don't use merged cells. You will save yourself a lot of headaches.

Oh, yes - what you are wanting can be done, but there isn't a generic fix. We shall need to see the layout of your workbook - attach a sample one here for us to look at.
But as I have advised, if you are at the design stage, ditch the merged cells: believe me, you will be glad you did.
