INDEX, MATCH, HYPERLINK and ADDRESS functions in merged cells.

Hello there.

I'm sending an attached file of Excel with a table on which I want to insert INDEX, MATCH, HYPERLINK AND ADDRESS functions. However, there are merged cells in it, so I ask if there ever is a possibility to do that.
There are four tables: the first two ones in portuguese, and the last ones in english (with the correspondent formulas).
The first sheet in each language is about the table containing merged cells, the second, on the other side, contains the single cells compatible to each subsection.

Is it possible to do that with merged cells (the FIRST sheet in each language)?

Due to the facts that the first two sheets are in portuguese and that only the second english sheet is working (with the right formulas), I suggest to start analyzing the last sheets. Furthermore, I'd like to know if it's possible to make those blank spaces in data validation disappear.
