cell loses #REF with PowerQuery (Get & Transform)

I finally got my head wrapped around Queries and now I need to upgrade my formula knowledge. I understand that queries delete and replace values. Further, using Index can eliminate #REF issues. My question is how to incorporate Index into a simple formula like "=IF('Get Data'!A355="","",'Get Data'!A355)"?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: cell loses #REF with Query

What exactly are you trying to do? Why do you think that INDEX gets rid of errors? Do you mean IFERROR? What exactly do you mean by 'queries'?

Re: cell loses #REF with Query

I'm using a web query to pull data from a database into 'Get Data". When data is replaced I get #REF errors all over the corresponding sheet. Reading other threads in the forum, the best solution I found to maintaining references when data is deleted and replaced is to use the Index function in formulas.
    I have no idea:
    1. How to incorporate Index into a simple formula.
    2. If Index is in fact the best solution?
I hope this answers your questions.

Some of them - thanks! So, just to clarify: this is about Get & Transform (PowerQuery) - yes? If so, then that needs to be clear in the thread title. Unfortunately, despite asking for one, we don't currently have a separate section for PQ and PowerBI.

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook?
    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

Re: cell loses #REF with PowerQuery (Get & Transform)

    In lieu of a workbook....
When the data in 'Get Data' refreshes, the formula in 'Tracking' changes from "=IF('Get Data'!A355="","",'Get Data'!A355)"" to "=IF('Get Data'!#REF="","",'Get Data'!#REF)".
    Does that help?
