Exclamation Conditional Formatting - marking the current week based on the day

    Hi there,

I have a spreadsheet (example below) and I would like to have the week automatically marked based on the current day. I have manually inserted the red line based on today's date, which is March 7th.

    I realise the dates aren't in a specific format e.g. 03/05/18 but I'm hoping this doesn't matter...

    I hope someone can help!

    Thank you!

Re: Conditional Formatting - marking the current week based on the day

Put the FULL dates in A3:Q3, format them how you want but the VALUE must be a proper date, ie 1/1/2018, 8/1/2018 etc

    Select A3:Q3

    Conditional Formatting
    New Rule
    Use a formula to determine...

    =COLUMN()=MATCH(TODAY(),$A3:$Q3,1)

    format as required

The column (not the line in between the columns as you have highlighted) should format however you've specified as above

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Re: Conditional Formatting - marking the current week based on the day

    Hi,

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

So I re-formatted the dates and inserted the formula: =COLUMN()=MATCH(TODAY(),$A2:$Q2,1)

I have attached the results below. The problem is only the date is highlighted, not the entire sheet.

Is there a way the get the whole column highlighted? Also is it really not possible to have a line instead?

    Thank you!

Delete the current Conditional Formatting and restart this time selecting the whole table

To highlight a line choose the Border tab when formatting, select a colour first before selecting the line position

Unfortunately I highlighted the whole chart before, and I just tried again but the same thing happened and only the date cell was highlighted, not the length of the chart.

I got the red line though!

Post your spreadsheet, not an image
Remove any sensitive data, create a mockup example if necessary.
Use the Go Advanced option at the bottom of the page then scroll down to Manage Attachments as the "paperclip" method does not work on this forum.
