Empty cell works!?

Hi ...

My brother made me a workbook a year ago or so.
Today I found out that a formula was linked to a cell in a hidden worksheet. After unhiding it, I was astonished to find out a formula had a reference to to an completely empty cell 'fisk!a13', but still the formula worked correctly.
How come?
How can I get that cell to show its content?

Are you sure the cell is empty, or does it just look empty?
There are ways of making cells look empty if the creator of the file doesn't want you to see what the formula does.

As than_gold has suggested, if you want to desensitise the workbook and post it up, someone can take a look.

I'd rather not, because it contains information about my trout fishing I do not want to share.
But it's OK if no one can help me with the given information.

I just wondered if there are ways to hide cell contents that I'm not aware of. More advanced ways, so to speak.

The cells in the before hidden worksheet show neither formulas or values, but the formula in the other worksheet comes up with the correct result.
So there must be something there?!?

Yes - there must be something there, but it will be hidden.
The only way is to see the workbook - you can delete all the information, as long as you leave somthing there to react to the formula - or just make up different numbers. It doesn't have to be real trout data (I was never much good at fishing myself - can't sit still for long enough), just something that one of us can look at and track back.

Of course, if you don't want to post it, then no-ones going to force you, but it's the only way to find out.

Did you check, whethere the cell is Locked or hiddeden?

Not locked and not hidden. I can even key in letters and numbers. Still the formula in the other worksheet works correctly.
May be I just call him, anyways. He lives abroad.

which part you are seeing it as blank cell?

If the lookup value not found, you will get "" i.e, blank in the cell where this formula is.
