hoping i can trouble someone for some assistance. i need to create a formula to shade alternating pairs of rows . ie rows 1-2 no color, 3-4 shaded, 5-6 no color , .... i've used conditional formatting for single alternating rows but havent been able to figure out a solution for pairs. thanks in advance for your time and help !

you can try CF with =MOD(ROW()-E$3,E$2*2)+1<=E$2 (this is just for column E so change references accordingly)

Based on Sandy's reply use:
=MOD(ROW()-2,4)+1<=2
as CF rule
