Thanks a lot for the solution to the first problem. As for the second:

89 77 1 20 40 50
34 46 23 1 44 5

The first and last combination start with the same three numbers and the last combination ends with the same four numbers as the third combination. The second and fourth combination are almost identical, apart from the first number. I would like Excel to show when these kind of similarities occur, for example with different colours (or another way to distinguish the similar combinations). Do you understand what I mean and is this possible?

It is better to go for conditional formatting. Upload a sample file.

Here's a sample. The column A is just to number the different combinations and therefore should not be a part of any formula.

- I14 and C16 start with the same three numbers, H88 as well and maybe more
- G5 and J259 end with the same three numbers
- H48 and J49 have the same second, third and fourth number

I want Excel to mark these similarities, so that I can see what kind of combinations occur the most.
