Question Aligning Cells with Matching Values

Hi, I have a spreadsheet with thousands of product codes, and corresponding data of stock on hand and weekly orders.

I would like to match the product codes with each other to automatically align, in each row, the data of stock on hand and orders.

For example column C has the product codes for the spreadsheet, while column K and L include the copied and pasted stock on hand values.
I would like to align, say the BPLOBL value in K, and its 15 value, with the BPLOBL in Column C.

From what I gather, I need to be using a combination of the INDEX and MATCH functions but I cant get the syntax right!!

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello,

Insert a few columns between the two tables, so that the current column J becomes column P.

Then you can enter this formula in cell J2:

Copy the formula across and down.

Rule 08: Cross-posting Without Telling Us

Your post does not comply with Rule 8 of our Forum RULES. Do not cross-post your question on multiple forums without telling us about your threads on other forums.

Post a link to any other forums where you have asked the same question. If you have fewer than 10 posts here, you will not be able to post a link, but you must still tell us where else you have asked the question.

Cross-posting is when you post the same question in other forums on the web. The last thing you want to do is waste people's time working on an issue you have already resolved elsewhere. We prefer that you not cross-post at all, but if you do (and it's unlikely to go unnoticed), you MUST provide a link (copy the url from the address bar in your browser) to the cross-post.

Expect cross-posted questions without a link to be closed and a message will be posted by the moderator explaining why. We are here to help so help us to help you!

Read this to understand why we ask you to do this, and then please edit your first post to include links to any and all cross-posts in any other forums (not just this site).

If you have less than 10 posts, do not try to copy and paste the link. Instead, type the link out in your thread.

No further help to be offered, please, until the OP has complied with this request.

Re: Aligning Cells with Matching Values

    Hi Teylyn,

Thank you so much, your help worked!

I have come across a new blockage with the formula, and I was wondering whether you could help me.

    Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 4.27.04 pm.png

See the formula above, but now across several sheets. When I copy and paste the formula, towards the end of the data points (1320 of them) I start to draw errors.
I suspect this is because the array selection changes with each cell, when I would like the selection and data reference to stay the same.

    Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 4.27.10 pm.png

I would like the selection to stay J2:J1320 if that makes sense, and so on.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hugo
