worksheets not auto updating when i add new data

none of my worksheets in my workbook will auto update anymore. I have looked if it is set to manual instead of automatic in options/formula as well as the calculation options on the formula tab. everything is set to automatic but when I put in new data nothing happens on my other pages unless i click on the cell and select the formula in the formula bar and hit return. in my spreadsheet there are thousands of calculation that need to be updated all the time. I can't do that for every one.

Without having the Excel it is hard to determine what the problem is. With Privacy in mind however I can give you some general ideas as to what it might be.

1. You can check whether the calculation options are set to automatic. You can do so in the formulas tab in the ribbon.

2. You should check the formatting of the cells on the home tab. If the cells formatting is set to Text it will not handle it as a formula, set it to something else like number.

3. Check for circular references in the bottom left of the workbook. If it only says "ready" it is okay, but it will warn you if there are circular references.
