formula always returns #VALUE! when reference cell is blank

All Cells have the format "fractions"

I have two cells with formulas in cells C1 & D1

c1 refers to the input cell A1 which is either a number or is blank. That works fine

D1 refers to C1 (the cell with the formula.)

If I enter a number into A1 then C1 and D1 both work fine.
If A1 is blank then D1 shows #VALUE! giving the wrong data type error message

So it seems to me a cell with a formula can not refer to another cell with a formula which is weird because I am sure I have done that in the past.

in short .... If A1 is blank how to I make D1 blank ?

    Welcome to Excel Forum
What formula you are using can you please mention here for examine.

Attach a sample workbook (not a picture or pasted copy). Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Of course in D1 you can use:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

But it is a "treatment for syndroms, not for real reason"
If we knew (as shukla.ankur281190 posted) the formula in both C1 and D1 then we could give a modified version of either one of them or both.
    Best Regards,

    Kaper
