Lookup month when an employee leaves or starts a role

    Hi,

I am trying to write a formula that will work two different ways:
    1. Give the month an employee left a role
    2. Give the month an employee started a role

I have attached a picture of what the matrix looks like (I think...). The 1.0's represent the employee in that position for a given month.

I am struggling to know what formula to use.

    Thanks in advance

    hi,
you can put some identification character like "s" and "e" for the month an employee started a role and for the month an employee left a role. Leave the cells between this months blank or a common identifier like "c" and the use this formula =INDEX(A1:E1,MATCH("s",A2:E2,0)). i am attaching a sample workook please have a look at it
