    Conditional Formatting - Dates older than Today

    So I have what seems like a simple request for conditional formatting, yet it's not giving me the results I expect.

    Is cell in column F older than today?

    If so, highlight the entire row.
    I'd also like to ignore any rows that are blank because I'm going to likely add to the sheet every day.

    Any ideas what went wrong?

    In your sample, column F is blank. Did you mean column B?

    Assuming that you meant column B, try this:

    Highlight the area that you want to apply the Conditional Formatting to (e.g. A2:B100) > Conditional Formatting > New Rule > Use a formula
    =COUNTIF($B2,"<"&TODAY())
    Format: Fill color of your choice > OK > OK

    Oh yes sorry lol I had it in F but took out some data that wouldn't be appropriate to post in a public forum.
    That makes sense except that it highlighted Oct 11 when today is only Oct 5th.

    October 11th was already highlighted from your previous attempt.

    Clear any existing Conditional Formatting then follow the steps from post #2.

    You will see that only A6:B6 is highlighted in your sample from post #1 after applying the CF from post #2.

    The $B2 reference must match the start of the applies to range.
    As you had applied it to the entire column you should use $B1
