    Add cells

I am trying to figure out a formula ... if a5:a10 has the word office in multiple cells...and b5:b10 has a corresponding number. say a5, a8, a10 have the word office in the cells...i am trying to get the formula to add the number in b5, b8, b10 in to a single in a different column.

    I hope this makes sense!

    Thank you in advance!

    Try this:

    =SUMIF(A5:A10,"office",B5:B10)

    Several ways,

    =SUMPRODUCT((A5:A15="Office")*(B5:B15))

    =SUMIFS(B5:B15,A5:A15,"Office")

    =SUMIF(A5:A15,"Office",B5:B15)

    =SUM((A5:A15="Office")*(B5:B15)) (Array formula)

    welcome to the forum

I have changed your thread title to conform with our rules.

For future reference, please take a moment to read the forum rules and use thread titles that are descriptive of your problem - not what you think the answer might be. (think google search terms?).

Many members search our previous posts, and thread titles play a big part of the search. I doubt anybody would do a search based on your title?
