Assistance with IF(ISNUMBER( 2 column search boxs

Hello,

I'm brand new here; first post.

I have a question on how to take 2 columns of data, and search them with a active x dropdown box; but when i want to search either the data from column 1, or column 2, i can only filter results for 1 column.

The data i would like to filter in the search box, each column needs to stay together for the search. 1 column is full of values such as CX-1-1, column 2 is full of descriptions such as Standard Tube.

When i search for CX-1-1, it only filters that column. i would like the 2nd column to filter as well, so when i search for CX-1-1, i get both CX-1-1 and Standard Tube.

If i search for Standard Tube, i would like the column with CX-1-1 to filter with it.

How might i be able to do this when using If( and Error( Isnumber( formulas?

I can attach my example excel if needed.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

It may be that you can avoid formulae altogether with a simple Autofilter or better still a Pivot Table.

A lot depends on what you actually want to do once you've identified the subset of your data that you're interested in.

Thank you all for the very quick response. I've followed the instructions as shown; and attached my example link at bottom of post.

I was looking for a way to search CX-1-1, and have the description also update; and vise versa. so that if i search for the description, the CX-1-1 will update with it. currently, searching each individual column only updates that column.
