    Sequential numbers

    Hello Forum Experts,

I am seeking help for a complex situation. I have an excel file where there are numbers between Column A:I

Looking for a formula which will scan the numbers in the whole matrix (A1;I9) and will input the sequence of numbers in column K for the one's found in the matrix.

For example in my sheet 8 and 9 are sequence numbers in the matrix. The output in K is 7 and 10. I have highlighted the sequences for the numbers found in matrix for reference.

Also when the next sequence is added, the matrix should calculate only the last 9 rows including the new one. eg, if data is added in row 10 the new ,matrix should be between row 2 to 10 and so on.

    Thank You

    sequence # are 3,4,5 > get 2,6 Your result 3,6
    sequence # are 8,9 > same result 7,10
    sequence # are 11,12,13 > get 10,14 Your result 11,14
    sequence # are 15,16,17 > get 14,18 Your result 15,18
    sequence # are 19,20,21,22,23 > get 18,24 your result 21,24

Could you explain on how you get these result, if consecutive sequence is more than 2?

    Re: Sequential numbers

    Thank You

I see your response is very close to what I am looking. For your query if there are more than one sequence eg. 2,3 and 3,4 the sequence should be reflected for all those. If I read your table, I think you have captured that in column O and P. Is it ??

    Re: Sequential numbers

Column O pick the last sequence and column P pick the first sequence

Yes it close, you pick 20 and 23 but the column O formula get 21 and 24 from 19,20,21,22,23
I don't know your logic to pick 20 and 23 from 19,20,21,22,23 while other sequence you pick the last sequence.

    Re: Sequential numbers

It was just an example. Ideally it should pick all the sequences, so what you are thinking is right.
