    Auto Numbering in Excel. Thank you!

    Hi everyone..pleasure to meet..I would like to ask 2 questions (one is in another thread)..
    1. How to create auto numbering in excel and restart on new items. Like the example below:

    A countif function can do that for you

    Please Login or Register  to view this content.
    The "trick" is making the first part of the range absolute (stays at A2) and the secondpart relative (a2 wil become a3 on row 3) then it will count how many times the text (or value) in column A has already been in the list.

    Just, Why the large number is on top ya..column C is your formula..and Column B is where i type manually..the result is correct..but the number like is Decending order. Thanks man.

    I dont know if I cannot judge that from a picture, I need to see the file or at the very least the formula, it cannot be the same as I made
    as you can see in my example file it the number increases every row. it is starting low and ending high
