    having trouble with nested IF function

    =IF(Amount_Purchasing>0,Current_Processing_Fee,IF(Amount_Purchasing>=10,Current_Processing_Fee+Extra_Handling,"-"))

    I am creating a buy sell ticket for a school project and this is supposed to have a processing fee of $2.00 (Current_Processing_Fee) unless the user enters an amount of 10 or above in the Amount_Purchasing column, in which case it should ADD Current_Processing_Fee+Extra_Handling however it isn't. I continue to get the $2.00 original amount.

    I have also tried the following format with the same results:

    =IF(Amount_Purchasing>0,Current_Processing_Fee,IF(Amount_Purchasing>=10,Processing_Fee=Current_Processing_Fee+Extra_Handling,"-"))

    Re: having trouble with nested IF function

    The way you have written the first formula is to see if Amount_Purchasing is greater than zero - if it is then it will return the Current_Processing_Fee and won't bother to look at the second IF function. This is also true of the second attempt. Try it like this:

    =IF(Amount_Purchasing<=0,"-",Current_Processing_Fee + IF(Amount_Purchasing>=10,Extra_Handling,0))

    Hope this helps.

    Re: having trouble with nested IF function

    in a multiple IF THEN statement the first IF THEN that satisfies the statement will complete the statement, so
    IF(Amount_Purchasing>0,Current_Processing_Fee,IF(Amount_Purchasing>=10,Current_Processing_Fee+Extra_Handling,"-"))
    chances are that the >0 is satisfied for the first statement which >=10 is also >0 so the if statement doesn't have to go on.
    perhaps this is your issue. Maybe putting it like this will help... IF(Amount_Purchasing>=10,Current_Processing_Fee+Extra_Handling,IF(Amount_Purchasing>0,Current_Processing_Fee,"-"))
