Question Have to enter the same VLOOKUP multiple times to pull all info

    Hi all,

There have been several instances where I am using a standard VLOOKUP to pull in info to multiple rows (by dragging down the formula from the top cell), and it will work with many of the cells, but I'll get N/A for many others. Then, I'll sort the N/As to the bottom, and enter a new VLOOKUP that is identical to the 1st, and again it will work for many of the cells, but I'll still get many N/As. I will continue this process until all pull up. Any idea what's going on?

    Thank you!

    Welcome to the forum.

Have you set the lookup type (final argument)?

    =VLOOKUP(lookup_value,lookup_aray,column,LOOKUP_TYPE)

So did that fix it? If not, please attach a sample workbook. If it is fixed, please select Thread Tools from the menu link above and mark this thread as SOLVED. Thanks.

without a sample file it is difficult, I wondered if the lookup array was relative, so when you get #N/A nothing matches, you put in a new formula it works and then it does the same again. etc

Have you fixed/locked your range (i.e.: A1:Z99 to $A$1:$Z$99)? It could be picking up blank values if its moving down with the pull down...

Cool Re: Have to enter the same VLOOKUP multiple times to pull all info

Thank you everyone! It seems like what Cleetus09 recommended did fix the issue on the current file. I have tried that in the past, and it didn't fully work though. If I come across it again, I'll come back to this thread. So, all good for now.
