    Good afternoon
I have put together a Gantt chart form various sources on the web. I have my chart in Excel rather than a separate chart. I have a very long function which i want to alter to show days completed and days remaining.
    Current formula

I am attaching the excel sheet.
When its working I'll pop it up as there is little about Gantt charts here and they're useful.
Looking forward to seeing what you guys think.

This should get you days completed

    Formula: copy to clipboard

You should also adjust the end date formula in G10 to include holidays

    Hi Bob
Sorry I thought I had replied yesterday. Thank you for the very fast response. I actually have the days completed and remaining on my chart what I cannot do is see those reflected in the chart. I simply don't know where to start as the instruction needs to be embedded in the current formula and then reflected in conditional formatting. Or that's how see it. As a work around I have added % in column K. I will use column K as a guide to establishing what the builder is to be paid.
    Thanks all the same.

Do you mean that you want the Gantt to show another day for days past? If so, this formula sets a value 4 for that condition, so add to L10, copy across and set a CF condition for 4

Thanks Bob. I have been populating it in since I posted this last. your comment has allowed me to understand how the formula works a little. I can't understand how to get at it. I also value the help I get here and worry that I am not asking my question clear enough. I don't want to waste you time . However I attach a line which is purely visual showing what I want to achieve. Attached. Its the same file as before with added B38 and B39.

So much of what I have done here has been study. What I am doing now is becoming a paid for job. That being the case it is reasonable that I should pay. Am I correct in my assumptions. I am not at a level whereby I can contribute.

Re: Gantt Chart almost complete. Days complete and days remaining Conditional formatting

First let's deal with the intertaction:
    - yes, you are probably not being clear enough, but as with all things, you know a lot more about the problem that we do and we probably need to, so we need to tease the relevant details out of you. That is basic analysis, we can always quit if we are incapable of asking the right questions or you are incapable of getting that information across to us
    - you are not wasting my time, only I can do that, and as before I can stop whenever I want to, so don't worry about that
    - personally, I think it is irrelevant that you are getting paid for doing this, most people who ask here are probbaly getting paid for it. If you were asking for us to do a project for you, that would probably warrnt you seeking professional, and paid help, but simple questions are what forums like this are all about.

So, getting off my soapbox, letr's return to the Gantt. In your two new examples, the used days and unused (or mor accurately, to be used) days are, easy to work out formulae for. The overrun is not so simple from the data I see, what is there says that the job didn't finish on the 17th, so I know the 18th/19th/20th are overrun? Of a similar ilk, what about underruns? If the job finishes on the 16th, how would we know, and how should we mark the 17th.

Hi Bob. I not feeling good about this as. Your patience seems endless. I have been populating this and though it is not good it does the trick I have mixed up two tutorials and therein lies the difficulty. I am going to revert to insert charts as oppose to creating bar charts out of cells. I don't know why but in me there is an illogical preference to use cells. However, this creates a mountain of calculations which is slowing down my machine massively even when I put it on manual calculation. Ha What I propose doing is re jig it and then post it here again for your thoughts. If you think it's OK then some sod like myself will be able to download it and use it. Builders are starting next week. Most of my time has been spent is entering the data some 300 lines. I have a dependency concept in mind linked to the dates entered.
I have had enormous amounts of help over the years from this group. On this occasion it's my fault mixing apples and pears.
I should have the replacement up in a few days.
Thank you for all the help so far.
    All the best
