    Formula to lock cell reference

    Hello all from rainy Prague
Could you possibly help me as I have the following formula and =[CAM_MUST_HAVE_KPIs_2019_General_Staffing_CZECH_REP_w39.xlsx]w5!$BZ$17 and need that w5 stays changing to w6 and then to w7 etc. ... not sure how to do it. w5, w6, w7, etc. being names of different sheets in in the file. Is it called indirect linking?
Many thanks for all ideas in advance!
    Kat

    Hi Kat,

If I understand what you are asking, you simply need to lock the reference

    From >> w5!$BZ$17

    To >> $w$5!$BZ$17

Place your cursor on W5 in the formula and select F4. This will cycle thru the options to lock the column, lock the row, lock both, or to make everything relative.

Re: Formula to lock cell reference

    Hello Jeff,
Thank you for your reply... My apologies, but I did not explain myself correctly. I need to the actual sheet (w5) to change. Basically, I have a workbook with 52 sheets starting from w1 ending w52. I need to be able to fill the cells and automatically change the sheet numbers, eg. from w1 to w52 and keep the same cell, in this case BZ17.
I hope this is clear. Would appreciate any help.
    Regards,
    Kat

    Hi Kat,

Could you attach a sample workbook with a few sheets.

Please attach a sample workbook (not a picture or pasted copy). Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need.

Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

    Hello Jeff,

    Thank you for your reply.

I am sending the file before - empty one. The file after is with the data I filled in and yellow highlighted those I am trying to get automated. I am aslo including the master file from where to pull the data.

I trust I am sending all you require.

    Hi Kat,

Is it possible to merge the KPI sheet with the w1 thru w7 sheets? The only solution with a formula would seem to be using the indirect function, but indirect only works with an open workbook.

    Hello Jeff,

    Many thanks for your feedback.

I need to keep the sheets separate unfortunatelly.
