Automatic numbering when rows inserted or deleted but with a difference

    Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help please. I'm producing a catalogue using easycatalog. Items will be added as I go along within different sections of my spreadsheets

I've learnt recently how to make automatic numbering when inserting or deleting rows which works a treat.

But while still using this technique I also need to make automatic numbering for another column on the same spreadsheet.

In most circumstances it will be 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 etc but occasionally I will need the same number to follow each other ie. 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.5, 1.5, 1.5. This will be determined by a product of the same name.

At a loss how to do this and if it's even possible.

I hope you understand what I'm after.

    Thanks

    For subcategory: ="1."&SUMPRODUCT(1/COUNTIF($C$1:$C2,$C$1:$C2))-1
Not sure from where you are taking your category. if you have the category in another cell, then you could use something like this:
=D2&"."&SUMPRODUCT(1/COUNTIF($C$1:$C2,$C$1:$C2))-1, where D2 is the category. In this case 1. But probably you will need to include the category in Sumproduct as well.
