    Multi-Condition Group-Based Addition Formula

    All,

I'm having some difficulty with the following - been at this for quite some time now.

The issue is that i'm trying to develop an additive formula that checks the "capability" of various entities (that are grouped), and if the "capability" meets the requirement, the formula will calculate how long said entities will be available (in hours).

It's kind of hard to explain, so i've included a couple of simplified examples to tease this out a bit.

    Thanks in advance.

Are you overcomplicating this?? In your examples, the membership of whatever group is irrelebvant, and a simple COUNTIF delivers your expected results.

    =COUNTIF(D6:D8,A2)

    Hey Glenn,

Almost. However, the COUNTIF ignores how long each group is on site in hours. I've re-attached an example that teases out what i mean.

    Thanks for your quick response.

This proposal employs some 'helpers' which may be moved and/or hidden for aesthetic purposes.
The helpers (in columns E:F) are populated using:

The summation cell in column A are populated using: =SUM(E6:F6)
