(SOLVED) count With 2 Criterias over multiple tables

hi any help would be appreciated

I'm new to excel formulas so I have no Idea what's going wrong

I am trying to count how many holidays over multiple tables each employee has had

I have put a small example together , but the original has loads more information attached to it

is it possible just to look for the name in any row and then count the amount of holidays in that row.

I suspect that you have oversimplified your raw data too much in your sample... but we'll see:

    =SUMPRODUCT(($A$2:$A$17=J5)*($B$2:$F$17="Holiday"))

    copied down.

thanks for that its just what I needed,

is there an easy way to add the formula to more table, i.e if I had 52 weeks or do I manually have to put the new formula in for each new table

Just extend the ranges to cover the data
