How to PRESENT round-down, but not perform round-down function?

by changing a cell's display format, you can make it a Number with 0 decimals. The problem is that this makes the display a ROUND TO NEAREST format, so 15.55 shows as 16. I want to show 15.55 = 15.

The internet says I have to use functions like INT or ROUNDDOWN - but the problem is doing that changes the value. I want to keep 15.55 (the .55 is a counter) but display 15.

Is there a way to only PRESENT round-down in the cell, but not actually apply any function? Thanks!

Not to my knowledge, but hiding the column and having a column displayed using the functions you mention above could be an option.

As you say, formatting does not change a value, whereas a function like ROUND does. However, there is not much control over the actual formatting rules, as these are built in to Excel, so I don't know of any way to achieve what you want (well, you could put a function like INT in an adjacent column, hide the first column and display the column with the function in the style you prefer, but use the hidden column values in any further calculations).

    Hope this helps.

    Hi everyone,

thanks. I thought that the adjacent column would be a way. I just thought there could be a better one. Thanks!
