In excel sheet I have many cells with data validation,
as example: I have a column (E:E )with data validation list (POT, PAR, FUN)
my formula is =countif(E:E,"POT")
this formula not work, but when I clear data validation and write "POT" in any cell of column E:E, it work perfectly
please, help me catch the mistake.

The formula is counting the number of cells in E that have POT as a value. Read the yellow banner at the top of the page, act on its guidelines and post a sample sheet showing your expected results.
