SUM IF not working as expected

SUM IF not working as expected

    =SUM(SUMIF(F:F,{">0","<"},H1247:H1250))

My understanding is the above formula is looking for a number in column F. If that number is greater than or less than zero, it will then sum the relevant cells in between H1247 and H1250.

The range is small as I test it.

The interesting issue is all 4 relevant cells H are double digit positive numbers, but the result is returning as a negative.

Any insight as to what I'm screwing up? The data in column F is set to "number" not text, first thing I checked.

    Thanks.

    Re: SUM IF issue

    Here are a couple options:
    1) ARRAY FORMULA

    2) Wouldn't this regular formula work?

    Does that help?

Thanks Ron. Both work, as does mine if I move away from F:F and actually designate the cells. I'm trying to be lazy and just designate the column F because the cell range in column H will be changed regularly. One less set of numbers to change.

    Re: SUM IF issue

I beg to differ. The original title summed it up perfectly. I am having an issue with SUM IF formula. I could, if you wish, pollute the forum with a 300 word explanation of the issue in the title.

Perhaps the current amendment to the title will make more sense to you.
    Thanks

Re: SUM IF not working as expected

Brett - "sum if issue" tells us nothing specific or anything other than it being about SUMIF. We have literally thousands of threads about SUMIF every year. "Issue" could be any number of problems or requests. The changed title is better - thanks.

I could, if you wish, pollute the forum with a 300 word explanation of the issue in the title.
Please mind the way you address people here: there is no place here for rudeness or sarcasm.
