Domino Effect Trigger Calculation

Hello Everyone,

Here is a challenge that I'm still trying to figure out how to set the formula and I'm in need of your help

So here is the background. Need to create a spreadsheet the each column's date triggers the next column if "date" has not been input it yet, for example.

If "Start Date" is greater than (10 days) "Step 1" then trigger cell to changed color but ones date is added to the cell, then return to normal color.

Now, with "Step 1" date in place, I also need to create a similar calculation for "Step 2" but with 30 day difference and same for "Step 3" and so on...

I tried to used Conditional Formatting but seems that I can't get it through there.

Please help!
