Trying to use formulas for a countback tiebreaker

    Hi,

I help run an online drivers championship and I am trying to use formulas for the countback system instead of having to work it out manually each week.
Ideally I would like to have the sheet count the number of each placing, then give a rank based on who has the most 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so-on to 20th position each week so I can use this to seperate people on the same number of points. Another spanner thrown in the works is that not everyone takes part each week, and not all placings score points.

I'm not sure if the RANK.EQ forumla would be best here or not, and I also couldn't get it to work for more than one week due to my limited knowledge.

Doing a search on these forums I also couldn't find any other threads that were more than 2 weeks worth of rankings.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I have added a file with a trimmed down version of the sheet i am using and can happily provide more information if needed, or if my explantion is unclear.

    Cheers
    Dwarfy

    .
The attached uses the formula for RANK. =RANK(C3,$C$3:$C$25)

Thank, but that's still not quite what I was hoping for.

In column N, the RANK formula you suggested works fine, it's from O to W where I am truly stuck.
Instead of ranking each column indiviually, I was hoping for something to rank all the previous columns as one.

EG: Column N is the rank for the results in column C
Column O is the rank for both columns C & D
    Column P is the rank for columns C, D, & E and so-on to column W

    That is fantastic!!
    Thanks heaps.

Just one last question, is there a way to prevent getting the same number twice?
    If not, it's all good
