Averaging project lifespans - months, days

I have numerous projects listing their start/completion life span, in months and days, for example: 1 months, 15 days; 0 months, 28 days etc (Formula reference: =DATEDIF(startdate, enddate,"m")&" months, "

I now want to calculate the Average of all lifespans but I’m unable to compose the correct formula.

    Help greatly appreciated.

Try DATEDIF with start date and end date is range, not single cell like this:

    =AVERAGE(INDEX(DATEDIF(C2:C4,D2:D4,"m"),))
