I need a formula so that the date in G2 is 90 days from the date in F2 if E2 is populated by a certain word from a drop down
I need a formula so that the date in G2 is 90 days from the date in F2 if E2 is populated by a certain word from a drop down
May be in G2:
=IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("that word",E2)),F2+90,"")

This gives me a number in cell G2 rather than a date or am I missing something

Set the cell formatting to short date.

Just to clarify, a date IS a number. It is the number of days starting from 01/01/1900. So, 1 January 1900 is 1 and today, Friday, 13th November 2020, is 44148. Formatting as Date (or Short Date) will display the date as you expect it to (that is, F2+90).
