First, I apologize if this has previously been answered, but I have been searching for a couple weeks and can't seem to find an answer.
I am using Excel 2013 (company's version authorized).
The attached spreadsheet contains two tabs "Index_Match" and "Source_Data".
In my example the Source Data column D contains various colors. An employee can have multiple colors, so the employee name (column C) and Emp #(column B) may be listed more than once. To establish a lookup key I added column A in tab "Source_Data" and inserted the following "=IF(ISBLANK(B2),"",B2&"/"&D2)" to create a unique lookup. My lookup key returns the employee number and the color "100/RED".
In my "Index_Match" tab, cell E2=CREAM, one of the colors, but this is an Absolute value and my table header.
The formula below works fine if $B3 and $E$2 equal the employee's ID and cream (100/CREAM).
=IFERROR(INDEX(Source_Data!$D:$D,MATCH($B3&"/"&$E$2,Source_Data!$A:$A,0)),"")
My problem is I need to write a statement that returns the color if it is Cream or Gold. Basically, gold is the umbrella and cream would included if your color was gold, but if you have cream, you may or may not have gold. In my source data and employee could have both cream and gold, just cream, or just gold.
I've tried multiple If/And/Or statement combinations and can't seem to get it to work
=INDEX(Source_Data!$D:$D,MATCH(OR($B3&"/"&$E$2),($B3&"/GOLD"),Source_Data!$A:$A,0)),"")
I am attaching an example.
Any ideas or suggestions would be welcomed!
