    SUM values with criteria

    Hi
New to this forum so if I don't explain myself clearly please let me know. I think I have attached the file but not sure if I have done it correctly.

I am now pulling my hair out as I just can't seem to get the formulas to work in this case.
The attached file is an extract from a bigger Excel. What I am trying to achieve is to count the PC Models under each country (there are more) by recognising the model name and then adding the numbers that correspond to the model to the monthly Count grid
I know I could just use =SUM but the attachment is not the whole story just a part of the Excel file so I need to use the countif or sumif or a combination or perhaps something else I don't know about. I will be adding more models and months in the future.
=COUNTIF(A:A, "ThinkPad T14") -- this is formula that recognises the ThinkPads T14 entries in column A.
Now I need the formula to add the total monthly numbers from column B that correspond to the ThinkPad T14's into the Count grid cell H3, which would be the sum of B5,B12,B19 and B26 (6)
I then need to do this for the other models which would just be a matter of changing the model name in the formula.

Is that clear as mud or do you get me? I am sure there is a really easy solution but now my mind is all over the place!

Thanks in advance for you help.

In H3, copied across and down:

    =SUMIF($A:$A,$G3,$B:$B)

    Re: SUM values with criteria

Hi. Forum Rule 1 is very short. It states: "Title must briefly summarize your request."

A GOOD thread title is the sort of thing you would use as a search term on Google*. Your chosen title would produce a squillion useless hits. In future, please take a bit more time to think of a descriptive title that would be "Google-friendly". Many people search the forum answers looking for help and your very general title wouldn't help them at all.

Since you are a new user of this site, on this occasion, I have changed it for you.

However, if you continue to use weak titles, you can expect to have your thread BLOCKED until you change it yourself. If that happens, to edit the thread title, open the original post, click "Edit Post" (bottom right) to access the area where you can edit your title.

    *Other search engines are available!!!

    Regards,

    Glenn.

Thank you Glenn and understood about the title.

This was a case of: "Sometimes things are most likely so easy that it's too difficult"

Thanks again and Happy New Year to you!

Exactly... Sometimes you're just too busy going in circles. It happens all the time... to all of us.

    You're welcome.
