    Unify Names

    Hello Together,
I would like to unify names.
    Here is what can occur:
    Miller Peter J.
    Miller Peter J
    Miller Peter J.
    Miller Peter Jericho
    Miller Peter Jericho 1st
    Miller Peter-Jericho 1st
    Miller Peter-Jericho-1st

This should come out in all cases
    Miller Peter
I only need first Name and a second.

    Thank you very much.

    Re: Unify Names

Seeing one (correect) name on its own isn't hugely useful. It helps to see what the potentially interfering names look like, too. So....

read the yellow banner (top) and post a small sample showing matches and near-miss non-matches.

If your data is all in Column A
    1. Highlight the column and click on Text to Columns on the Data Tab
    2. Delimit the data with a space and a hyphen (-)
    3. Delete all columns to the right of the first two
    4. Using the formula for Concatenate, join columns A and B with a space between.
