Rounding formula - I do not know if this is possible

    Hello everyone,

This may be a no brainer if it is possible but for me it's brain surgery.

I am calculating fees based on last years invoice + a percentage. The partner wants me to round the new amount to the nearest $5. I know how to round numbers but I don't know if there is a way to write a formula to do this for me.

I cannot seem to figure out how to attach the sample. When I scroll down, there is no GO ADVANCED that I can see and I cannot figure out how to insert a picture

    Sample workbook.PNG

I hope someone who knows way more about formulas than I can come up with something. I greatly appreciate any assistance that can be provided.

    Best Regards,
    Leah

    Try this:

    =MROUND(B2,5)

367.50 is in fact exactly halfway between two points, so SHOULD round up.

If you want 367.5 to rounddown, but 367.6 to round up:

    =MROUND(B2-0.01,5)

Re: Rounding formula - I do not know if this is possible

Thank you. I did not know about clicking on the star. I will certainly do that. Out of the three formulas offered it looks like =mround (b2-0.01,5) is the winner. The (b2,5) rounded both numbers up but I needed the 367.50 rounded down to $365. The second (b2, 2.5) did not round the $367.50 at all. But the last one (b2-0.01,5) rounded the 367.50 to 365 and the 498.75 to 500 which is exactly what I needed.

Thank you all again for taking the time to help me out. This will save a great deal of time over the next couple of months. I do billing for an accounting firm...LOL

Glad to help. There are no losers here: just lots of willing helpers and members asking questions, who are the winners. You can add rep for anyone who offered helped, if you wish: doesn't just have to be the person whose solution was best for you.
