Giving Cells Numerical Values

Hello! I have a list of events that happened in column A and the dates they happened in their corresponding B column. Is there a way for me to be able to have a cell at the bottom that would have the total number of events?

you can use COUNT

=COUNT(A4:A27)

Replace with your range

But it would be helpful if you could provide a sample file that others can use to assist.

I tried COUNT and replaced with my range and it did not work. Here is a sample file I created that is similar to what I need done.
