    Lookup formula to return specific value

    Hi,

    I have the following values in column A I am looking up. Partial reference numbers that are always 6 characters long and complete ones that vary. Sheet 2 has all my data A normal lookup will only return the first value or NA. Is there a formula that will ignore the partial values and return only the complete values?

    123456
    123456
    654321
    654321
    123456 NAMEA
    123456 NAMEA
    654321 NAMEBC
    654321 NAMEBC

    Are you still using Excel 2010? If not, please update your forum profile.

    In B2 copied down:

    =VLOOKUP(A2&"*",Sheet2!$A$1:$A$8,1,0)
