FIRST POST, NOVICE
Excel current subscription;
document with 25 columns, 139427 rows;
column E only should have "xyzxyz" nonsense word in every
cell along with other text, but replacement of column E "xyzxyz" with say "xyzxyzxyz"
shows total count 139420 meaning 7 cells lack "xyzxyz"...?;
is there way to find those 7 cells lacking xyzxyz?
prefer novice solution, even if more steps, thanks in advance!
Probably your data has headers in first row (if not, add a row abowe a data and insert some headers like H1, H2, H3...) and in first empty column in second row (say it's J so in cell J2) write formula:

Now you can use Autofilter and display only rows with "here" in column J

yes my columns have headers;
inserted new empty column F with header;
dragged your formula from F2 to F bottom;
"here" appears in ALL cells, reordered entire doc
column F both a-z & z-a
"here" showed in ALL cells = 139427
rechecked column E via replacements of xyzxyz
continued to show 139420 replacements!
so it seems 7 cells column E are not replacing
despite column F indicating all column E have xyzxyz??
any further advice appreciated...

"here" should only appear if cells in E do NOT contain "xyzxyz"
Click on the filter button on the header row (column E) and you should get a menu with an option of "Text Filters": select one of options and will get another selection box.

& now 7 cells have been revealed!!!! THANKS
